Recognize a Pokémon from its cry alone, with visual hints trickling in only when your ear falls short.

How Cry Challenge works

The whole puzzle hides behind one play button: press it to hear the Pokémon's cry, replay it as often as you like, and enter a name. You have six guesses. The first three misses each peel back one hint in fixed order, first the generation, then the type pairing, then a plain black silhouette, and any misses beyond that add nothing new, leaving the sound itself as your last resort. Already-tried names collect below so you never waste a guess on a repeat. Like the other dailies it offers a shared daily target that locks when finished, plus an unlimited mode that rerolls on demand.

Strategy

Listen for register and length before anything else. Cries split loosely into low growls, high chirps, mechanical buzzes, and drawn-out wails, and that texture narrows the field faster than naming the exact species cold. Spend your first couple of guesses freely to unlock the generation and type hints, then cross them against the sound: a high metallic cry pinned to one generation and a Steel typing collapses to a short list. Keep the silhouette hint in reserve as confirmation rather than your main line of attack.

What it teaches

The Cry Challenge trains the audio channel of Pokémon recognition, a sense most players never develop, tuning your ear to pitch, duration, and timbre and wiring those sound signatures back to species and the types they belong to.
