How to play rayquizz
rayquizz is a Pokémon guessing game. You are given clues about a hidden Pokémon and you narrow it down, guess by guess, until you name it. There is nothing to install and no account to create. This page walks a first-time player through the daily challenge and, more importantly, how to read the feedback that appears after every guess.
Start with the daily
The daily challenge picks one Pokémon for the whole day. Everyone playing the same generation range gets the same answer, so it is something you can compare with friends. Type a Pokémon name into the box and submit it. You are not penalised for a wrong guess: each one turns into a row of colour-coded clues that steer your next attempt. Keep going until you land the answer, then come back tomorrow for a new one. Your streak grows for every day you solve.
Reading a guess
Every guess is scored attribute by attribute against the hidden Pokémon: its two type slots, evolution stage, colour, habitat, height, weight, and the generation it debuted in. Each cell tells you how your guess compares.
- Green with a check means an exact match. That attribute is correct.
- Amber with a dashed ring means a partial match, for example a shared type that sits in the wrong slot.
- A red up or down arrow appears on numbers like height, weight, or generation, and points toward the answer. Up means the target is higher than your guess, down means lower.
- A plain cross means no match at all for that attribute.
Colour alone never carries the meaning: every cell also shows an icon and reads out to a screen reader, so the grid stays legible for colour-blind players too.
The generation filter changes the rules
You can narrow the pool to the generations you know, from Kanto alone up to the full modern dex. This does more than shrink the roster. rayquizz judges each Pokémon by the rules of the era you picked, so a range that ends before Generation 6 treats Clefairy as a Normal type, exactly as the early games did, and a baby Pokémon introduced later does not count toward an evolution line's stage. Tips for your first week
Open with a Pokémon you know well rather than a wild guess: a confident first row gives you real information to work from. Read the numeric arrows before the type cells, since height, weight, and generation cut the field fastest. If you get stuck on the daily, the progressive hints reveal a type, then a second type, then an ability, and eventually the first letter, so a hard day still has a way through.
