Is rayquizz free to play?
Yes. rayquizz is completely free, with no account, no sign-up, and no payment of any kind. It runs entirely in your browser and works offline once it has loaded.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to register. Your streaks, stats, and settings are saved locally on your device, so they stay with the browser you play in rather than a login.
How does the daily challenge work?
The daily picks one hidden Pokémon per day. Everyone playing the same generation range gets the same answer, and the puzzle locks once you finish it so it cannot be replayed until the next day. Solving it each day builds your streak.
Why is Clefairy shown as a Normal type instead of Fairy?
Because rayquizz judges Pokémon by the era you choose. The Fairy type did not exist until Generation 6, so if your generation range ends earlier, Clefairy is treated as the Normal type it originally was. Twenty-three Pokémon changed type this way over the years.
Why does a Pokémon's evolution stage change with my generation setting?
Many baby Pokémon were added in later generations. Pichu, for example, arrived in Generation 2, so in an earlier era Pikachu counts as a first-stage Pokémon rather than a middle one. rayquizz follows the evolution line that actually existed in your chosen era.
Can I play offline?
Yes. rayquizz is an installable progressive web app. After your first visit it caches everything it needs, so the daily and every other mode keep working with no connection.
How do I install it on my phone?
Open the browser menu while viewing the site and choose Add to Home Screen. It then launches like a normal app, full screen and offline-capable, without an app store.
Is my data private?
Your play data never leaves your device. There is no account and no tracking of your guesses. If advertising is enabled in your region, consent is gathered first and you can change it at any time from the footer.
Is rayquizz affiliated with Nintendo or The Pokémon Company?
No. rayquizz is an unofficial, fan-made project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon names and related media are trademarks of their respective owners.
How many game modes are there?
Dozens, grouped into daily guessing, puzzles, quizzes, colour challenges, and stat battles. Beyond the classic daily you can guess from silhouettes, cries, Pokédex entries, stat bars, and much more.
What happens if I get stuck on the daily?
The daily cannot be lost. After enough guesses it reveals a ladder of hints, a first type, then a second type, an ability, and the first letter, so even a hard day has a way through.
