Deep Dive
Dive deep to catch Gen 3 water Pokémon. Hit the target zone, it shrinks each round!
Time your release to stop inside a shrinking depth band and haul up Gen 3 water Pokémon.
How Deep Dive works
A marker sinks steadily from the surface down a vertical gauge, and a highlighted target band sits at some depth below. Tap dive to begin descending, then tap release while your marker is inside the band to catch the Gen 3 water type waiting there. Let it fall all the way to the bottom and it auto releases as a miss. The band starts at roughly a quarter of the gauge and narrows every few rounds to under a tenth, and its position is randomised each round. Three misses bring you back to the surface for good.
Strategy
The descent speed is constant, so this is anticipation rather than reaction: read where the band sits before you dive, then commit to releasing just before the marker reaches its centre, allowing for the split second your tap takes to land. Aim for the middle of the band, never the top edge, so a slightly late release still counts. As the band thins each round, that lead matters more, so start your release earlier.
What it teaches
Dive trains predictive timing against a moving target, the skill of leading a release instead of chasing it, and along the way it acquaints you with the Gen 3 Hoenn water Pokémon.
