Spot the Shiny

Two copies of the same Pokémon sit side by side, one shiny and one normal, and you tap the rare one.

How Spot the Shiny works

Each round places the same Pokémon twice, its normal sprite and its shiny version, on the left and right, with the shiny side randomised so position never gives it away. You compare the two and tap whichever one is the shiny. Some are obvious, a red Gyarados beside a blue one, while others differ by only a faint shift in a single body part. The chosen shiny flashes a sparkle and a success ring on the reveal beat before the next pair loads. Endless chases your best streak, quiz and timed cap the round count, and two players can face off in pass and play.

Strategy

Since both sprites are the same Pokémon, ignore shape entirely and hunt for the difference between them. Scan the largest colour areas first, then the small tells: eye colour, a fin, a flame, or an underbelly often carries the only change. When the two look nearly identical, the subtler, less expected palette is usually the shiny, because the normal sprite matches the version you already picture. In timed play, trust the first mismatch you spot rather than second-guessing it.

What it teaches

Spot the Shiny sharpens direct visual comparison and your memory of default palettes, teaching which Pokémon have dramatic shinies and which hide the tiny recolours that shiny hunters learn to catch at a glance.
